About Us

Reflecting God's love and in response to our neighborhood's diverse needs, South Providence Neighborhood Ministries provides services and opportunities that encourage self-worth and build a safe and just community of caring, respect and cooperation.

South Providence Neighborhood Ministries is an ecumenical, multi-service neighborhood center. It was incorporated as a non-profit 501(c) 3 in 1988 but operated out of Calvary Baptist as an outreach program for many years before then.

Sewing classes are held once a week on Friday mornings from 9:00 a.m to about noon. Neighbors learn the basics of sewing, beginning with making a pin cushion and a pencil holder. Using donated sewing machines, fabric and notions, they learn to make clothing for themselves or their children or even useful quilts. At noon, participants gather to share pizza in the kitchen.
